The Cambridge Personal Styles Questionnaire® (CPSQ) supports recruitment and personal development in higher education and employment. It captures essential information on the personal styles of behaving, which lie at the heart of successful university study and careers.
CPSQ can be used for:
matching personal profiles with the institution’s expected behaviours and values
focusing interview questions.
providing an early indicator of student needs
guiding and monitoring progress during the course
supporting careers advice.
selecting candidates with the right personal qualities
assessing and identifying ways of working
assisting in guiding and monitoring personal development.
The personal styles of behaving assessed are:
CPSQ is an online questionnaire. The questionnaire is typically completed in 20-30 minutes for native English speakers and in up to 60 minutes for non-native speakers.
The questionnaire contains 164 short statements in sets of four, with rating options. Respondents who select the same level of agreement for two or more of the statements are then asked to choose which statement is ‘more like me’ / ‘less like me’.

The Cambridge Personal Styles Questionnaire® (CPSQ) supports values based recruitment for medicine, nursing and healthcare in the NHS. Results are reported against seven healthcare-related competencies, which are aligned with the values of the NHS Constitution.
