The Occupational English Test (OET) assesses the language and communication skills of qualified healthcare professionals who wish to register and practise in an English-speaking environment. It covers 12 professions:
OET is owned by Cambridge Boxhill Language Assessment, a joint venture between Cambridge English Language Assessment and Box Hill Institute. The test was originally developed by the University of Melbourne's Language Testing Research Centre under contract to the Australian Federal Government. The test is now developed and administered by the OET Centre based in Melbourne, Australia, which has been managing the test since 2004.
